What is Speed Puzzling?

Speed Puzzling is the newest sport to hit the market! It’s simple….how fast can you put a puzzle together? In the events, everyone gets the same puzzle and normally get a maximum of 1 hour 30 minutes to complete. If you are not finished, every group of three pieces is considered “completed” even if not attached to the puzzle.

Typically, there are three categories of competition: Individual, Pairs, and Teams (up to 4). Piece counts for each category can vary from each competition by typically individuals will normally get a 250 piece or 300 piece, pairs will receive a 300 piece or 500 piece, and teams will get a 500 piece or 1,000 piece depending on how much time is allotted. Don’t get discouraged if 1,000 piece seems too hard, we believe in you!

Whether you are extremely competitive or not, Speed Puzzling is great way to socialize and meet new people. So grab your group of friends and let’s all have a fun time puzzling.

If you are a little far, we sponsor a National competition hosted here in Portland every year called the Portland Jigsaw Masters that brings in some of the most competitive Speed Puzzlers in the United States. The date for 2025 is TBD.
