About the Artist
Mike K. Rangner lives in Rockaway Beach, Oregon with his wife Teresa. He worked in the Portland area as a professional illustrator for over 20 years. His professional portfolio includes a diverse list of clients including Avia, Standard Insurance, Nike, The Oregon Zoo, Lego Toys, as well as Northwest Publishing, also known as Rising Moon, and McGraw Hill Publishers. Mike now enjoys illustrating from his studio in Rockaway Beach. His professional accomplishments include awards and honors from service organizations including the Oregon Food Bank, Goodwill Industries, and The
National Box Association for his product design work. Most recently his illustrated children's book, "The Seed and The Giant Saguaro" was recognized in the Fall of 2006 by Janet Napolitano, Governor of the state of Arizona, as the number one book for the state's elementary school reading program. Mike's art series of illustrations that he created for Art of Place, fulfills his love for the diverse subject matter and his constant love of design. He considers this combination as a dream come true. Mike considers it an honor to apply his creativity to subjects that we are all in awe of, both here in the United States, as well as around the world. His hope is that his art will bring some kind of enjoyment either with a recent trip with the family or from a fond memory of a childhood adventure. If anything, it reminds us just how blessed we are.
